60 percent of NSFAS Appeal Applications Could Not be Process
In todays latest NSFAS News– The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed that it has received at least 40 000 appeal applications. Out of this batch, 30% of the appeals could not be processed, here’s why.
Nsfas has developed a system that guides its applicants when lodging an appeal. The scheme acknowledges that it has taken some time to ensure that the functionality of its appeals system is ideal.
In a statement, Higher Education Minister Dr. Blade Nzimande said:
I am happy with the quality of appeals decisions made through this process.
It has been reported that approximately 40 000 appeals were recorded to have been received for the government bursary scheme.
However, 28 000 appeals applications were successfully reviewed and processed. According to Nsfas, the outcome of these appeals was also communicated to the applicants.
Nzimande said 12 000 applications could not be processed because no supporting documents were attached and submitted as required.
Students are to ensure that they upload all required supporting documentation to support their appeal and this may include, but not be limited to, medical, death of an immediate family member, academic transcript, payslips, etc.
This is part of the appeals applications process, hence Nsfas was unable to process and conclude these applications.
