How To Access UNISA “Help Pay Off Unisa Student Debt” Portal

The collective debt South African students owe various universities in the country has heightened to unprecedented amounts. Earlier this year it was disclosed that student debt at universities across South Africa stands at a high of R16.5 billion.

According to the University of South Africa (Unisa), the institution has accumulated a large sum of student debt over the past decade alone.

The University has over R830 million of historical debt that has accumulated as a result of students not being able to pay their outstanding fees.

In some cases, student fee debt prevents students from graduating, with many remain in the university system unable to register for other programmes because of this.

“Unisa plans to address this debt as it has adverse effects on its existence and financial sustainability”

In order to tackle this issue, the institution has started an initiative, “Help Pay Off Unisa Student Debt” where they are asking people to make donations to assist them in lessening student debt.

The institutions assures the public that any funds that are raised will be monitored and administered by the Unisa foundation.

“Please donate R70 or more using the https://unisa.devman.co.za/advancement/debtrelief/giving/ online facility which is secure and convenient.”

Anyone who wishes to make donations to the university should do so using the above mentioned link.
