The Bayelsa State Government in collaboration with the African Tide Union (ATTEC) academy officially flag off a training programme of 430 Bayelsa Youths on Smart Housing and Solar Energy in Yenagoa.
The Executive governor of Bayelsa State Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson ably represented by the Deputy governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John (rtd) performed the flagged off, inauguration of the Governing Board and presentation of admission letters to students of the academy. He therefore congratulated the trainees and charged them to be serious with the training, noting that it is capable of transforming their future. He further encouraged the youths to demonstrate good behaviour and exhibit exemplary character and never to disappoint the state government that has made much commitment towards their training.
The host of the event Chief Collins B. Cocodia, Honourable Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, admonished the participants to put in their best efforts stressing that such opportunities are very rare. The honourable Commissioner noted that the trainees would be engaged by the government in the Operation Light Up Bayelsa after the training and wished all participants a success training.
Earlier, the President of African Tide Union Dr. Rosalyn Dressman in her address hinted that the Smart House training programme is a fifteen months intensive programme expected to enhance youths productivity in the state. She further stated that at the completion of the programme successful trainees would be contracted to build smart houses for Bayelsans and Nigerians in demonstration of their skills with very proming finanal prospects. She thanked the Bayelsa State government in its commitment in making ATTEC a reality in the state.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Dr (Mrs) Agatha Goma said the trainees should give the training the seriousness it deserve, noting that at the end of the programme they will gain the prerequisite skills that will make them professionals in smart houses construction Nigeria.
